200 Days Afloat - VIDEO

It has been 200 days since our first ReefFloat was installed in Falmouth Harbour Visitors yacht Haven, Cornwall, replacing a failing EPS foam concrete float. 

Falmouth Harbour has made a strategic commitment to eliminating foam-filled floats from its marina and pontoons. As part of this initiative, they are committed to replacing any existing foam floats with sustainable, foam-free alternatives whenever possible. This made Falmouth Harbour an ideal location for our first pilot project.

Miles Carden, CEO of Falmouth Harbour, stated, “We have made a conscious decision to move away from EPS foam pontoons in all our operations. ReefFloat is the first company to offer a plastic-free alternative that is easy to dispose of at the end of its life by being crushable and usable as hardcore or equivalent material. We are proud to support them by purchasing a prototype float.”

Falmouth’s decision to ban new foam-filled floats is part of a growing trend. Authorities in Australia are beginning to implement similar measures, and it is anticipated that more locations will follow suit.
