ScaffFloat Launches ReefFloat: A Foam-Free, Sustainable Concrete Float

ScaffFloat is proud to talk about a product a year in the making with the launch of Reef Float.

The first ever foam-free, ultra-low-density concrete float. Reef Float directly addresses the problem of aging concrete-encapsulated pontoons that inevitably crack and release polluting plastic foam balls into the ocean. Perfect for Marina environments.

Core Innovation & Strength

The core of Reef Float is built using a patented ultra-low-density waterproof concrete (partnering with Holcim’s Airium technology). The result? A float that is multiple times stronger than conventional alternatives, with a structural core rated up to 1.5 MPa (megapascal).

The Sustainable Solution:

100% Recyclable: End-of-life disposal is simple and inexpensive. The product can be crushed and used as inert hardcore.

Zero Disruption: We have developed an in-situ replacement system allowing marinas to swap out old floats without removing pontoons, minimising berth holder disruption and loss of revenue.

Proven Success: Our full-scale prototype has been successfully installed under a finger pontoon at Falmouth Harbour, replacing failing floats that were actively releasing plastic.
